that show was fun and there was an open bar at beauty bar 1 block away... score!!

we also played our first out-of-nyc gig the night before in Philly at the green line cafe! (kudos to robin from cranes are flying for asking us)

other than that, i shot a "48 hour film" a few days ago which was prettttty exhausting, but fun nonetheless. it should be screening this friday at 8 downtown somewhere near the nyu area.

spring dont exist no mo'. thats pretty sad.

well i have wrapped on every film I had going on to date. which is a good feeling, but also scary. cuz.... whats next?? well. whats next is getting all this footage back so i can make a reel to send out to agents and managers and casting stuff, etc. it may take some time. in the mean time, i might have to start actually looking for another job. which would suck but, now that im done with all the films i have free time again, and im really pretty poor so... haha.

one of the films i recently just wrapped on is a Fairfield Student Film called The Grease Among Us. I had the best time working on this film, and when I got a chance to check out a sneak peak before it was finished, i thought it looked absolutely amazing. (and its funny too!) The film was chosen to screen "Cinefest" at Fairfield, but i wasnt able to attend, i hope it did well at the festival! Here's a sneak peak:

ten antenna has been recording our first album with our friend graham from the seƱors of marseille, who you can listen to here: (( http://www.myspace.com/senorsofmarseille )) so far its 6 songs. altho i really would like our first album to be all of our songs up until this point. which is 10. Domo is being very helpful during this recording process:

photon dynamo and the shiny pieces is also recording. this will be our second album, and its practically done! we've just got two more songs to lay down, its going to be called GOIN THE WORLD. then onto the NEXT almbum.

something pretty cool right now is a play is using photon dynamo's music for their production. if you are interested in seeing the play, you will get a DISCOUNT by mentioning our band's name. (photon dynamo and the shiny pieces!)

i was also finally able to see the Tim Burton exhibit with Ivan. It was truly unbelievable. no one was allowed to take pictures, which was the hardest part. especially when i saw the life-size edward scissorhands. one day, i need that in my house. it was so amazing that he was an arist AND filmmaker at a really really young age, and he always had that little quirky style about his work. it was just an incredible exhibit. not boring for a minute!

yesterday i was able to go see my acting teacher's play she directed at Muhlenberg College, and it was fantastic. It was called blood wedding, which she had me read when I was in college, and its such a heartbreakingly amazing play, infused with flamenco dance and classical guitar. My acting teacher added all these different characters too, it was incredible and i was definitely crying in the end.

it was so weird being back at muhlenberg tho, because the freshman when i left are seniors now, and it doesnt really feel like its been that long! but once they graduate, i just dont exist at that school anymore, cant really go back again. its really strange and i cant believe how fast the time flies by.

and i also cant believe that there are no seasons anymore. we went from freezing to PIPING hot, then had about two days of fall, and now its like summer weather. ughhhhh. whatever happened to the spring!

im going to be posting two very important links later as well. one teaser and one trailer...

And speaking of Lowry, their residency continues at Spike Hill this thursday with Ivan and the Terribles, with whom I will be playing bass because Chris Denham is super busy and awesome. hopefully I will do the band some justice in his absense. So:

8pm- Ivan and the Terribles
9pm- Lowry

Also, TONIGHT! Ten Antenna will be playing at Hannah Fairchild's CD Release Party at BAR 4; 444 7th Ave in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Super Excited to hear Hannah's cd, she's an incredible singer songwriter, and tonight will be playing with a band for the first time!

8pm- Debbie Miller
9pm- Ten Antenna
10pm- Hannah Fairchild

So if that's not enough, I will be playing a solo set at Piano's this friday for Dexter Scott's EP Release Party.

8pm- Gillian Visco
9pm- Dexter Scott

The next few days are gunna be rad and i am so looking forward to them =) hope you can make it out!

rainy days, mondays, always get me down

yea i know its not monday, but it may as well be. shoots are getting cancelled left and right because of this random rain. i decided to go to the diner this morning, but forgot it was sunday and that the diner would be PACKED with people. i may as well not have taken up a table just for myself when theres groups of people waiting to have brunch or what have you.

i finally saw the Shining for the first time last night. they had a midnight showing at the IFC center so me and ivan went and it was awesome!!! only i wish my stupid narcolepsy hadnt kicked in at the most important part. huge chunk of the film i was nodding in and out. its so frustrating because my mind is like.. "dont you DARE fall asleep!! what are you doing!!" but it doesnt matter, im out.

anyway, i shot yesterday in Battery Park for a film with an SVA student named Daniel Bello. Its a pretty cool idea, im just a girl walking around the park and all this crazy weird shit starts happening. we were supposed to shoot today, but the weather got in the way.

this week is looking CRAZY busy, (but what week doesnt). Ive got a Ten Antenna Show, playing bass with Ivan and the Terribles, and have a solo show three nights in a row. And I have three different shoots three days in a row. Then of course work at FAO, and easter is on Sunday (?!) and HOPEFULLY me ivan maria frank and margot will finally be able to go check out that Tim Burton exhibit at MoMa. been dyinggg to see it.

The above picture is from my new music video that director, Kevin Slack, directed. You can check out his blog here: http://tinyurl.com/yae4l27 . There's some screenshots pulled from some of his footage. Here's some more:

I'm gunna wait a while to post some other things. There's so much to report on these last few months. They've been incredible and exhausting. but there's nothing better than killin yourself for the dream. What better way to spend your time?

change of direction.

so i sounded really depressed in that last entry. i still feel the same but at least im unemployed. =D no more stupid job!

in the past few months ive done a ton of independent and student films, and shot a music video with director Kevin Slack! I'm going to be documenting such things like this ...if i can keep up with it. its been a crazy february and a crazy march, and i just hope it keeps getting crazier because im doing what i WANT and it amazes me how many people miss out on the amazing opportunity to follow your dream and your passion. what else is there to do??

so for now, I will post a link to a review that was written about my most recent CD, Flotation Device, which I recorded with Alberto Amaya in September 2008. It was released October 8th, 2009. And now I have a whole new batch of songs to record, so hopefully there will be a new cd in the works soon!

http://www.madeloud.com/review/gillian_visco_flotation_device

i will try and keep up with this as much as i can. i have so much to write about the last 2 months.
